Chippenham ASC is a competitive swimming club that aims to develop swimmer ability to the highest possible level. To achieve this our competitive performance squad undertake training sessions at Chippenham and Corsham pools on four evenings each week. At the senior level our top (regional/national) squad also attend an additional training session at Bath University (50m pool) once each week.
Although we are not a 'learn to swim' club, places are usually available for those that can correctly swim at least one length in some strokes. If you are interested in joining our club please follow the steps for New Members below.
NEW MEMBERS (Swimmers)
STEP 1 - Initial Contact
NEW MEMBER ONLINE REQUEST FORM
Please use the above webpage form to express an interest. This will allow our membership secretary to contact the coaching volunteers to arrange a trial session - please include any relevant information on swimmer ability on the relevant sections of the form.
Trial sessions are likely to be during the first hour on Tuesday or Thursday although please arrange an appointment first, don't just turn up on poolside. See Training > Sessions website page for likely times.
STEP 2 - Trial Session
Swimmers will be expected to stay for the full session which could be 30mins or 1hr to ensure they are assigned to the correct training session. Either during or at the end of your trial session you will be asked to provide/confirm your name and e-mail address so that the club can get in contact with you again and add your details to our distribution list. If you are not asked to provide this information please ask an official on poolside.
Contact details are retained entirely within a small number of club volunteers for internal communication purposes only - details are deleted when you leave the club. This process simply ensures you receive CASC e-mails as quickly as possible pending receipt/processing of your membership forms. Should you decide not to join CASC after your trial swim simply reply to any e-mail from the club or use the website This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. link to request your details be deleted.
STEP 3 - Club Membership Form
(a) Please complete the online membership form use the link provided ( E-Mail the Membership Secretary (Club > Officials) if you experience any problems).
Please note it is essential that you complete all information on the Club Membership Form within 1 week (i.e. BEFORE your 2nd swim). ASA insurance only allows 3 swims before ASA registration is completed. This registration process takes the club at least two weeks hence the urgency to return forms.
(b) Email a copy of the medical form if needed to the Membership Secretary (Club > Officials).

STEP 4 - Payment
There are two payments required - see Club > Fees page for full details. Essentially: [1] Annual Fee - Annual Club Membership (paid on joining and renewed annually every Jan/Feb) AND [2] Monthly Standing Order - To cover Pool Hire costs (paid on the 3rd of each month). Both payments are arranged by you using either of the two options described below.
Important Notes applicable to both options:
- Please use payment reference 'SURNAME-FIRST NAME' (i.e. SMITH-JOHN) - this ensures our Treasurer can link a person swimming with payments made.
- Please set-up monthly payments to be made on the 3rd of each month.
- Please note CASC has no control over the Standing Order's you set-up. Although we are able to see payments made into the club bank account we cannot adjust any Standing Order - this remains entirely under your control.
- Please E-Mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. when your bank has been instructed to set-up a standing order using either option. Also confirm the amount of one-off fee transferred to cover the Annual Membership Fee and any shortfall between first swim and first standing order payment. Arrears will be requested should full payment be delayed for whatever reason.
OPTION A - Use your Internet Banking.
Use your internet banking facility to establish a monthly standing order payment into the following Chippenham ASC Bank Account. Use the same account details to pay the Annual Membership Fee.
Sort Code: 52-21-30 | Organisation: Chippenham ASC |
Account Number: 10274693 | Payment Date: 3rd of every month |
Payment Reference: See Important Notes above.
OR
OPTION B - Download and Complete the following Standing Order Form.
CASC is unable to set-up a Direct Debit (i.e. CASC taking money from your bank account). You will therefore need to submit the completed Standing Order Mandate to your bank (i.e. you telling your bank to send payment).

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS (Swimmers)
Club membership is annual from 1st February to 31st January. Every January ALL members are required to renew CASC membership or resign. This process is initiated by e-mail from the Club Secretary and must be completed by 31st January each year to allow ASA memberships to be renewed by CASC during February. Failure by members to renew membership means swimmers will not be permitted to swim from 1st March due to a lack of Club membership, and therefore ASA insurance.
To renew membership please complete the steps below before 31st January:
STEP 1 - Membership Form

SYNCHRO ONLY MEMBERS
Club membership is annual from 1st February to 31st January. Every January ALL members are required to renew CASC membership or resign. This process is initiated by e-mail from the Club Secretary and must be completed by 31st January each year to allow ASA memberships to be renewed by CASC during February. Failure by members to renew membership means members will not be permitted to enter the water from 1st March due to a lack of Club membership and therefore ASA insurance.
STEP 1 - Membership Form
All synchro members are required to complete and attached a completed copy of the the CASC Membership Form provided below. This essentially provides the club with your contact details and information necessary to register swimmers with the ASA (as Cat 1). Please E-Mail this copy to the CASC Membership Secretary and CASC ASA Registrations Secretary using the following link (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Behaviour Agreement (Already included in the form - Provided for future reference) | Link |
Note that by returning the Club Membership Form you are stating (on behalf of your children) that all swimmers have been explained and agree to be bound by the Behaviour Agreement provided above.
Synchro members are required to pay the annual club membership fee on joining and every year by 31st January - see Club > Fees page for full details. This re-imburses the club for charges made by the ASA for registration. Synchro members do not pay monthly standing order fees to CASC as pool hire costs are paid directly to the leisure centre.
To pay the Annual Membership Fee either use internet banking (CASC Account details above - note payment reference instruction) and e-mail CASC Treasurer using the following link (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or provide a cheque (swimmer name & 'synchro' on back) and hand to Janice who will pass this on to the Treasurer.
STEP 3 - ASA Membership
ALL Synchro members are required to register as at least ASA Category 1 - CASC will organise this on receipt of the completed CASC Membership Form provided at Step 1 above. ASA Category 1 registration permits synchro members to compete in:
- Any event excluding ASA and British Swimming Regional and National Championships providing that members have not attained skill level three of the ASA Synchronised Swimming Awards.
- Recreational strand events in ASA and British Swimming regional and National championships.
Should there be a chance that you will compete at Category 1 excluded events (i.e. higher level competitions) you will need to complete and return an ASA Category 2 Membership Form. These are available from Janice and should be completed at the start of the membership year. If in any doubt please discuss this with Janice in January each year. CASC wishes to avoid members joining as Category 1 in January and changing to Category 2 during the year as this incurs additional time and cost for the club.
ASA Category 2 Membership entitles members to compete in ASA Regional and National Championships and British Swimming National events (excluding recreational strand events).
Newsflash
We need more licensed officials to run events and to complete behind the scenes roles. Why not start to train as an official? Its not as daunting as you think. Most of the training is done on pool side at a pace that suites you. Join a Judge 1 course to see what it is all about. Questions? Please ask Darren Hall or e-mail the club This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
If you are a parent of a CASC swimmer and have an hour or two to spare each week please contact a member of the committee either on poolside or via the 'contact us' link above as we are always looking for help from committed parents. Support is welcome both on poolside and behind the scenes with club administration / management functions.
